Review of each Bed Vacuum Cleaner

1.Raycop RS2 UV Sanitizing HEPA - Editor's Choice

To start this review, I’m going to put the spotlight on Raycop RS2 mattress vacuum cleaner first.

You’ll pay a steep price with it, but if you want a reliable appliance that will efficiently eliminate even the most resistant dust mites and bed bugs, Raycop RS2 is more than worth the few extra bucks.

It deserves the prominent position on our list because its ability to clean everything we’ve come across (bacteria, bed bugs, dust mites, dirt, larger specks of dust, you name it) cannot be ignored.

What this bed vacuum cleaner brings to the table is the advanced HEPA filtration system that captures virtually anything undesirable from your mattress. It is further enriched by pulsating pads that vibrate around 4600 to 5000 times per minute (this varies with the operating mode), thus loosening the dust and making it easy to be removed using suction.

Plus, the U.S. Department of Energy approves the HEPA filter technology, which testifies to its supreme rank and reliability in fighting microorganisms.

Another ode goes to the UV lamp that this device features. The UV-HEPA filter combo is the best thing that you can imagine!

The fact that you also get a spare filter, a dusting brush, cloth, and a storage stand with this unit is an additional bonus.

Believe us - all of the aforementioned mentioned features of this mattress vacuum cleaner will fit nicely into your idea of the best mattress vacuum cleaner.

So, if you’re looking for a mattress vacuum cleaner which will be a valuable investment and that you’ll use for years to come, I can assure you that this is the one.

  • One-year warranty
  • Free accessories included
  • HEPA filters
  • Three modes (Heavy, Medium, Delicate)
  • Good for your health
  • Cordless
  • Satisfactory suction power
  • Reasonably lightweight
  • A bit pricey

2. Housmile UV Vacuum Cleaner - My Budget Pick

Another excellent solution for your mattress that made it to our top six is Housmile UV mattress vacuum. It earned its place on our best-of list because we believe that customers who are on a budget should also enjoy the best of both worlds, without cutting back on some features.

First of all, if you’re not big on loud vacuum cleaners that vibrate too much, the silent performance of Housmile UV will amaze you. Not only this factor is beneficial to you, but it is also environment-friendly, as there is no noise pollution.

Even though it is ultra-lightweight (3.3 pounds), this vacuum is far from being delicate. I can tell you that it will surely clean your mattress efficiently. The designers knew what they were doing when they put together a vacuum cleaner that holds a lot of power without a heavy load.

It does not require a lot of attention when it comes to maintaining, either. The dust chamber is located at the front part of the vacuum cleaner, so it’s quite easy to remove and clean it.

Moreover, it is equipped with the HEPA filter system (which I’ve already talked about), a high-frequency vibration cycle of 3600 times per minute, and a considerable amount of suction.

All these reasons are why Housmile vacuum cleaner is one of the best-selling mattress vacuum cleaners right now, and why I have so much respect for the manufacturers.

Finally, I want to mention a potential downside:

This mattress vacuum cleaner is not cordless, i.e., you have to plug it to work. But I believe that finding the power outlet right next to your bed will not be a problem!

  • Premium HEPA filtration
  • Extremely silent
  • The cheapest on our list
  • Potent suction and double suction openings
  • UV sterilization
  • If you prefer cordless vacuum cleaners, you might want to search elsewhere

3. Dyson V6 Mattress Handheld Vacuum Cordless - Good Things Come in Small Packages

If you’re looking for an efficient mattress cleaner that enables you to transform a dull task of cleaning the mattress into a fun activity, Dyson V6 mattress handheld vacuum cleaner is at the top of its class.

This mighty appliance is about as good as a mattress handheld vacuum cleaner can get, and let us explain why.

It answers all of your “how to clean a mattress”-related questions by itself because the digital motor with 15 cyclones positioned across two tiers accounts for the airflow that enables a perfectly balanced suction power. You merely turn the Dyson V6 on, and voilà!

The keen attention to detail that the manufacturers employed, along with the fine-tuning of physical characteristics, will not leave you indifferent. I’m far from shallow, and performance is much more important than the looks, but the design of this unit is astonishing.

In addition to these physical embellishments, Dyson V6 mattress cleaner provides around 20 minutes of powerful suction, and the Max Power mode, which can last about 6 minutes, is excellent for the most daunting dust mites and bed bugs.

It is an undeniable fact:

Everybody appreciates and loves bonus accessories! It is not about the money – it is about the fact that the manufacturers purposefully decided to pay attention to their users.

And with this purchase, you get a mini soft cleaning brush for those layers of dust that cannot be removed by suction.

Let’s get to the pros and cons!

  • Sleek design
  • Extremely lightweight (3.6 pounds)
  • It is capable of cleaning even the impossible areas in your house
  • Removes all kinds of dust mites and bed bugs
  • It implements HEPA filtration
  • Two power modes
  • I couldn’t find any!

4. Sowtech Cordless Handheld Mattress Vacuum - Jack of All Trades

There’s a saying that goes “jack of all trades, master of none,” and this six-in-one mattress handheld vacuum is proof that it still holds. While I appreciate how versatile this vacuum is, it failed to excel in any given area:

It’s excellent in a lot of things – but it’s not the best in any of them.

Still, the SOWTECH vacuum comes with six different attachments, including a specially designed mattress cleaning brush, a crevice tool, and more. I’m willing to bet that it’s the most versatile vacuum cleaner you’ll come across.

The vacuum utilizes what is advertised as “professional-level cyclonic suction.” And while I wouldn’t necessarily label it as professional-grade, I can still attest that it does pick up anything from crumbs and debris to hairs and dust with ease.

Oh, and it does so without making too much noise, as well!

Plus, its battery performance isn’t too shabby, either, offering up to 30 to 40 minutes of operation on a single charge. That said, it does take up to six hours to recharge, which is a bit of a drag.

Now, at first, I wasn’t too thrilled to see that it doesn’t feature a HEPA filter, but considering how eco-friendly washable, stainless steel filters can be, I’m willing to let it slide. If you want to keep your home clean and do something good for the environment, too, this is the way to do it.

  • Stable suction power for what it is
  • Uses a washable, stainless steel filter, rather than a HEPA filter
  • Cordless, battery-powered design with 30 to 40 minutes of operation
  • Comes with six different add-on tools, including a mattress brush
  • An inexpensive option
  • The battery recharge time is six hours

5. Iris IC-FDCI Vacuum Cleaner - Dust Mites' Worst Enemy

The next item in my round-up is yet another cordless handheld vacuum cleaner – and a dust mite’s worst enemy, too. This vacuum was specifically designed to work as upholstery and mattress vacuum cleaner – no more, and no less.

Now, this can either be an advantage or a downside:

If you want something that will help keep your allergies under control by picking up microscopic allergens, dust mites, and bed bugs, then this is the vacuum for you. However, don’t expect it to work on carpets or floors.

Still, it deserves a spot on my list because it’s easy to use and cordless, relying on a rechargeable battery with 20 minutes of run-time for power. And while the suction doesn’t boast a lot of power, it works in unison with a vibrating agitator pad to stir up dust from within the mattress.

Also, it features so-called dust sensors and indicator lights that show how clean the surface you’re vacuuming is. It’s nice to have some way of tracking your progress. Plus, the bedding sensors help to preserve battery life by detecting when it’s touching the surface.

But despite all these handy and innovative features, I’m not entirely sure that it’s worth recommending. It’s not that it’s lousy at its job – it offered a relatively decent performance.

Still, I don’t feel like it’s capable of keeping up with the competition in terms of suction power, functionality, and versatility.

  • Picks up microscopic allergens and bed bugs
  • Features dust sensors and indicator lights that detect how clean the surface is
  • Bedding sensors detect when it’s in contact with a given surface area
  • Cordless design with a rechargeable battery
  • Doesn’t pick up dirt that’s visible to the naked eye

6. Euleven Hot - UV Handheld Bed Vacuum Cleaner - Attractive and Smart

If you came here wondering what is the best vacuum for dust mites, this handheld UV vacuum cleaner might be the answer you’re looking for here.

What makes the Euleven UV vacuum cleaner so effective in dealing with dust mites, allergens – and possibly even bed bugs – is the fact that it employs several methods of cleaning and sterilization.

First, you have the dual inlets and double-suction cleaning ability of the Euleven vacuum combined with an efficient beating pad:

The high-frequency vibrations beat out the dirt, grime, and dust mites from the deeper layers of your mattress, while the powerful suction makes sure that they’re sucked into the vacuum. Once they’re trapped, these particles are then exposed to UV lights and hot air that kill them on the spot.

And finally, this handheld vacuum cleaner is also equipped with an effective filtration system, combining two filters:

The HEPA filter will capture more than 99 percent of particles inside the chamber, releasing nothing but fresh air back into the environment. On that note, the second filter is located near the air outlet, where activated carbon filtration takes care of any remaining allergens.

It’s a shame that the Euleven doesn’t seem to fit into tight spaces, though. If you suffer from allergies, you should give it a go – but it probably won’t replace your full-sized vacuum any time soon.

  • Employs several different means of cleaning and sterilization
  • Features dual inlets and double-suction cleaning
  • Uses UV lights and hot air to sanitize the surface
  • Double filtration system with a HEPA filter and activated carbon
  • Fairly lightweight and portable
  • Doesn’t fit into tight spaces

Different Types of Vacuum Cleaners Explained

There are various types of vacuum cleaners and styles available in the market. I will address each one of them so that, you decide which one will best suit your needs for cleaning your mattress.

1. Upright Vacuum

It is one of the most preferred vacuum cleaners as it is capable of removing dirt and dust from mattresses, carpets, and even be able to clean a large area at a go. They can also be used when cleaning hard floors and area rugs. It is important to note that, note all upright vacuums can be used on hard floors since they might damage the floor and the vacuum as well. So before you decide that you are in for an upright vacuum, better do your research on the various brands to make sure that, it is one that can work on hard floors to give you an added advantage.

If you have decided that the upright vacuum is the way to go, check out onboard attachment, one that is bag-less or not, how much weight is the unit. They are available in different sizes and styles with each having different specifications as far as weight and other attachments are concerned. If you want to be using it for the wall to wall cleaning too, then you have to go for one with edge cleaning as it is able to pick all the dirt under the entire area where the head points.

2. Robot Vacuum

They are battery operated and completely hands-free. They work by seeking out and sucking up dust, debris, and dirt. They are the best if you want to be doing your mattress vacuuming on a daily basis and extremely popular with those who own pets and you want your mattress to stay clean all the time.  It is self-propelled and programmable and thus, you need not do any extra work when it comes to vacuuming. To avoid stairs and other obstacles, they use sensors. So if you are one of those who doesn’t have time to walk around the house, including the mattress during vacuuming, this could be your best pick.

3. Carpet/Steam Cleaners

They are available in different styles ranging from portable to upright ones. You can also find handheld carpet cleaners in the market, thus you have a lot of variety to choose from. It is capable of cleaning and disinfecting your mattress, rugs, furniture, and drapes. Even if you are always vacuuming your mattress, things such as spills dust mites, pet dander, and bacteria are always present. In order to contain this issue, the steam cleaners use heat and moisture to loosen the stains and dirt which other vacuums are unable to remove. Unwanted germs are killed in the process and thus, if you are looking for a night on a clean mattress, then go the carpet cleaners style.

In recent days, they have become popular due to the fact that, environmentalist see them as the green alternative to cleaning. Most of them resemble upright vacuums with cleaning solution in one tank that contains hot water while there is another tank that is used to hold the dirty water. If there is anyone in the home who suffers from chemicals and allergies then you should go for this particular vacuum cleaner.

4. Canister Vacuum

They are easy to use as well as portable. If you clean a variety of mattress plus other surfaces but is loved by people who love hard surface vacuuming. Compared to other designs, it is lighter and is easy to maneuver, reaching tight spots with ease.

They come with their bag and motor fixed in a separate unit, mounted on wheels and this helps to make it more maneuverable. A flexible hose is what fixes the vacuum head to the canister.

It is able to dislodge small particles from the surface of the mattress using the revolving brush agitator or brush system. So when your favorite pet decides to pull a fast on your bed, this could be the best vacuum to use. They come with replaceable bags but you can get one that is bagless. Get it if you want to reach those hard to reach spots in your mattress corner and at the same time, use it on your furniture and other spots on your carpet and floor. I also use it to vacuum my car.

5. Handheld and Stick Vacuum

In the market, they are the smallest and lightest options which are available. Most of them are operated on batteries and are cordless making them offer convenience when it comes to doing some cleaning around the house including your mattress.  Apart from using it on your mattress, you can utilize it on car interiors, upholstery, blinds, vents, closets, and above the floor cleaning. Use it to clean small spills on the mattress and any other area, getting out cobwebs or vacuuming dirt from window panes and sills.

When it comes to sticking vacuums, they tend to be similar to upright vacuums with the difference being in the weight; stick vacuum being lightweight and coming minus attachments.

6. Commercial and Garage (both wet and dry) Vacuum

They are most of the time referred to as shop vacs. When it comes to professional messes, it is the best to go for. When you want to clean basements, water, and dirt garages, or a mattress that is so messy, then this could be the right one to work with. You will need to think about storage and where you are going to use it apart from the mattress vacuuming to decide if you really need this type.

What to Consider When Shopping For A Vacuum

Before you decide on which vacuum is good for your mattress and which will work well for you, you will need to look at other additional features which are common on most quality vacuums, which might be important in the long run.

1. Filters and UV Lights

If you are someone who is allergic to pet hairs or dust, then the filters are a must-have. Get through online reviews and choose one with the filter you think will work well for you. I picked on HEPA filters and I have never regretted my choice. You will get some models which require a frequent replacement of the filter while others include reusable filters in their purchase package.

If you want to save money, then you will be better off buying one with reusable filters. Just remember that you have to clean these regularly to ensure a powerful suction.

2. Bag/bag-less

Designs which are bag-less seem to be most preferred by those whom I have come across using vacuums. It could be due to their property of detaching the container unit from the vacuum when necessary, dispose of away the dirt without having to tag along with the entire vacuum. You can still go for bag designs because they seem to hold dust better due to the bag itself sealing off the dust. It then prevents any mess from occurring when cleaning the mattress or whatever you are vacuuming around the house. If you are allergic to dust and pets hair, then the bag is the best way to go.

3. Vacuum Attachments and Accessories

If you want to do more than just the mattress vacuuming, then you will need to look at the various attachments and accessories. For you to be able to clean the sofas, drapes, and chairs, get to all the corners in your house, you will need to make sure that you have the right attachments on your vacuum cleaner. If you will be interested in making sure that all the corners are clean, then go for the crevice tool. An upholstery will be good when doing the furniture without having to cause any damage. Getting the dust from tables and shelves will be done perfectly well if you have a dusting brush. A turbo brush will be the best when it comes to carpets which are longer.

4. Multi-surface Flooring

If, apart from the mattress, you want to do a variety of floor surfaces in your house, then go for the multi-surface flooring. They will allow you to turn the brush roll on and off at will, depending on where you are doing the vacuuming. This will allow you to avoid scratching the soft spots on your floor when you are transitioning from carpet to mattress to floor.

Final Verdict and Recommendations

When you’re choosing the best mattress vacuum, there’s one thing that shouldn’t slip your mind – and that’s why you're buying one, in the first place.

Your mattress is breeding ground for all sorts of nasty creatures and grime, where powerful suction is nowhere enough to take care of business. That’s when you know that it’s time to pull out the big guns – UV lights and a highly efficient HEPA filter.

The Raycop RS2 UV Sanitizing HEPA is a perfect example of what you need here - and if money is tight these days, I recommend the Housmile UV Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, instead!
